There are many varieties of red cherries, the most common being the Bing. Other varieties have been developed to increase the length of the season by being earlier or later than Bings. Some of the newer varieties are larger in size as well.
Research has shown that cherry consumption can help the body prevent heart disease and cancer. These health benefits are possible due to the antioxidants found in cherries.

To pit or not to pit: it’s up to you!
Place drained cherries in containers or bags. Press out as much air as possible from bags before sealing. Mark containers and freeze.
You can enjoy the sweetness of summer and nutrients all year long!
Serve the cherries partially frozen for best flavor and texture.
Add frozen cherries to your favorite blended fruit drink (don’t forget to remove the pits).
