KIKU® is a remarkable apple that inspires a devoted following among apple connoisseurs. Further, KIKU® apples are only grown by select growers in a few locations around the country. CMI holds the Exclusive Master License to grow and market KIKU® apples in North America and has teamed up with Rice Fruit Company in Pennsylvania and Applewood Orchards in Michigan to proudly bring KIKU apples to the public marketplace.
The KIKU® apple was originally discovered in the middle of an apple orchard in Japan. Luis Braun, an apple grower from northern Italy, identified the red-striped apple as uniquely different from all the other apples in the orchard. He was mesmerized by its super sweet, full-flavored taste, and made it his mission to share this new apple, he would later name KIKU®, with the world.
Once back home in Italy, he set out to grow and share this wonderful new apple with the world. Since then, the Braun family has licensed a few select growers around the world to grow and sell KIKU®.
The KIKU® Apple is available each year on a LIMITED BASIS.
