Fruit is firm, juicy and a deep mahogany red when ripe. These cherries have a sweet, rich flavor, with 17-20% fruit sugar.

There are many varieties of red cherries, the most common being the Bing. Other varieties have been developed to increase the length of the season by being earlier or later than Bings. Some of the newer varieties are larger in size as well.

Research has shown that cherry consumption can help the body prevent heart disease and cancer. These health benefits are possible due to the antioxidants found in cherries.
